Artist's Comments

I've just been in the mood to use traditional media recently. I first dyed the watercolor paper with the idea of using it as a texture for digital drawings, but then I decided I wanted to see how a painting would work.

This is my original character Evangeline. I use her whenever I want to do some generic pretty portrait and don't want to make up a new character. I get tired of drawing someone new cause then my imagination goes wild figuring out their story.

I used a beautiful green ink for the paper color, then I used a combination of ink and acrylic for the rest of her. My roommate totally got me into inks! Who would ever want to use watercolor when there's rich inks!

I copped out with the key and just drew one I own instead of being creative and making a cool one up.

So yeah, mostly just an experiment.

It's a good looking experiment!

thanks! I never really thought about continuing this kinda stuff since my career path tends to stick to digital media. I may do more.

I have the same problem with random drawings! I can start with nothing but a pathetic scribble and then have a fully-fleshed character in less than two days if I stick with it.

I love the key border, by the way, and YAY for ink! That's my favorite medium to work with, even though I've never used it in a painterly way.

It looks good! I'm with those who say you should experiment more in this style/medium. :)

I am, but I'm making some of my projects too big for my scanner =(

Aww...are you able to take photos of them? That's what I usually do when my projects are too big.

lol I don't have a camera until my mom gets back. Even then, she is coming back from a very long trip and prolly has a butt load of pictures to transfer. I may take a pic of them, but the more I look at them, the more I see that I don't like some of them.
